BREAKING: Court grants Seun Kuti bail, gives police 48 hours To Complete Investigation.

The Chief Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State has granted bail to Seun Kuti, the popular Afrobeat musician, on Tuesday. The court also directed the police to conclude their investigation into the alleged assault of a policeman within 48 hours.

The police prosecutor, S. A. Adebese, had requested that the court remand Seun Kuti for 21 days, claiming that this would allow the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to prepare legal advice. However, the defence counsel, Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), opposed this plea during his argument.

Falana argued that he was not aware of any application to remand his client and urged the court not to grant such a request. The court subsequently granted bail to Seun Kuti and ordered the police to conclude their investigation into the alleged assault within 48 hours.

Seun Kuti, son of the legendary Fela Kuti, was arrested for slapping a police officer after his vehicle was stopped on Third Mainland Bridge. This incident had generated widespread attention on social media and in the press. The new development is expected to bring some relief to his family, fans, and well-wishers.
